ResteGo is a mobile application owned and operated by Yaroslav Imshenetsky, a sole proprietor based in New Jersey, United States. References to “ResteGo,” “we,” “us,” or “our” mean Yaroslav Imshenetsky, operating under the ResteGo name.
ResteGo helps users locate and rate restrooms, view crowd-sourced restroom information, and plan potential restroom stops along a route.
Privacy is incorporated into the design of ResteGo. The application does not display advertising, sell personal information, operate advertising networks, provide behavioral advertising, or use analytics, email-marketing, or behavioral-tracking software development kits.
This Privacy Policy describes the information processed through ResteGo, the purposes for which it is used, the parties with which it may be disclosed, the periods for which it may be retained, and the choices available to users.
By accessing or using ResteGo, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1.1 This Privacy Policy applies to personal information processed through:
(a) the ResteGo Android application;
(b) the creation and administration of a ResteGo account;
(c) restroom ratings, tags, facility attributes, and status reports submitted through ResteGo;
(d) location-based and route-planning features;
(e) account-deletion and privacy requests; and
(f) communications sent to ResteGo.
1.2 This Privacy Policy does not govern the independent privacy practices of Google, Mapbox, Waze, OpenStreetMap, property owners, restroom operators, or other third parties.
1.3 When ResteGo opens another application or directs you to a third-party service, information processed after that transfer is governed by the third party’s privacy policy and terms.
2.1 Account Information
When you create or access a ResteGo account, the following information may be processed:
(a) your email address;
(b) your display name;
(c) a Firebase account identifier;
(d) your chosen authentication method;
(e) account creation and authentication records; and
(f) limited account-security information generated through the authentication process.
If you register through Google Sign-In, ResteGo receives the account information made available through the Google authentication process. If you register using an email address and password, Google Firebase Authentication processes your login credentials.
ResteGo does not receive or independently store your password. Password authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication.
For email registrations, a display name may be derived from the email address unless another permitted display name is provided.
2.2 Restroom Ratings and Reports
When you contribute information about a restroom, we process the structured information you submit, which may include:
(a) a cleanliness rating from 1 to 5;
(b) predefined condition tags, such as whether soap or toilet paper appears to be available;
(c) selected facility attributes;
(d) an open or closed report;
(e) the restroom record to which the contribution relates;
(f) the date or time associated with the submission; and
(g) the internal account identifier associated with the contribution.
ResteGo does not provide free-text review or photograph-uploading features. The application does not request camera access for user contributions.
Ratings and reports may be displayed to other ResteGo users. Your name and email address are not displayed with those contributions.
2.3 Device Location
With your permission, ResteGo may access your device’s approximate or precise location for the following purposes:
(a) displaying restrooms near your current location;
(b) using your current location as the starting point of a planned route;
(c) ranking nearby address suggestions; and
(d) supporting location-dependent application functions requested by you.
Location access is optional. ResteGo accesses location information only when permission has been granted through your device.
ResteGo does not use device location to create a background location history, track your movements continuously, or provide behavioral advertising.
You may deny or withdraw location permission through your Android device settings. Certain nearby-restroom or route-planning features may not operate correctly after permission is denied or withdrawn.
2.4 Route and Search Information
When you plan a route or search for an address, ResteGo may process:
(a) the starting point you enter;
(b) the destination you enter;
(c) address-search text;
(d) approximate location information, where permission has been granted and the information is used to rank nearby suggestions;
(e) coordinates returned for a selected location;
(f) route information and driving directions returned by Mapbox; and
(g) the selected restroom destination transferred to a navigation application.
Search text, location information, and route requests may be transmitted to Mapbox to return address suggestions, coordinates, and driving directions.
ResteGo does not permanently store the address suggestions or route results returned by Mapbox as a history of your journeys.
When you select “Navigate,” ResteGo may open Google Maps or Waze with the selected destination. The navigation application then processes information independently under its own privacy practices.
2.5 Communications and Privacy Requests
When you email or otherwise contact ResteGo, we may process:
(a) your name;
(b) your email address;
(c) the content of your communication;
(d) information needed to verify an account or request;
(e) attachments or supporting information you voluntarily provide; and
(f) records of our response.
You should not send passwords, government identification documents, medical information, financial account information, or other unnecessary sensitive information when contacting ResteGo.
2.6 Information Processed by Technical Providers
Google Firebase, Google Maps SDK, Google Play services, Mapbox, Google Maps, and Waze may receive limited device, network, request, diagnostic, security, or service-usage information when their services are used.
The information independently processed by those providers is governed by their respective privacy notices, product configurations, and service terms.
ResteGo does not integrate Google Analytics, advertising networks, Facebook Pixel, Mailchimp, email-marketing tools, behavioral-tracking SDKs, or a separate crash-reporting SDK.
3.1 ResteGo does not intentionally collect through its application features:
(a) photographs or videos;
(b) camera recordings;
(c) microphone recordings;
(d) contact lists;
(e) text messages;
(f) telephone call records;
(g) payment-card information;
(h) bank-account information;
(i) advertising identifiers for ResteGo advertising;
(j) free-text restroom reviews;
(k) health or medical records;
(l) biometric identifiers;
(m) government-issued identification numbers; or
(n) a background history of your movements.
3.2 ResteGo is free to use and currently has no advertising, paid subscriptions, or in-app purchases.
4.1 Personal information may be used to:
(a) create, authenticate, secure, and administer your account;
(b) allow you to access account-dependent features;
(c) display nearby restrooms when location permission has been granted;
(d) process address searches and route-planning requests;
(e) transmit a selected destination to a supported navigation application;
(f) receive, store, aggregate, and display restroom ratings and status reports;
(g) calculate or update crowd-sourced restroom scores and facility information;
(h) prevent false reports, manipulation, duplicate submissions, unauthorized access, and misuse;
(i) investigate technical, security, and account-related issues;
(j) respond to support, privacy, or account-deletion requests;
(k) maintain the availability, integrity, and security of ResteGo;
(l) comply with applicable legal obligations and valid legal processes;
(m) establish, exercise, or defend legal rights; and
(n) enforce the ResteGo Terms of Service.
4.2 Personal information is not used to determine eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, education, medical care, or another service producing a legal or similarly significant effect.
4.3 ResteGo does not use personal information for targeted advertising or commercial profiling.
5.1 Restroom ratings, predefined tags, facility attributes, and open or closed reports are submitted to help other users evaluate available restroom information.
5.2 Published contributions do not display your name or email address.
5.3 Contributions may be combined with information submitted by other users to generate aggregate ratings, condition indicators, facility details, or restroom-status information.
5.4 Internally, a contribution may remain associated with an account identifier while the account is active. That association helps protect the integrity of the service, prevent abuse, allow users to modify their own content where supported, and enforce account restrictions.
5.5 Other users cannot use ResteGo to view the email address or account identity associated with a published contribution.
5.6 ResteGo may remove, correct, suppress, aggregate, or retain contributions in accordance with the Terms of Service.
6.1 Google Firebase
Google Firebase provides authentication and database infrastructure used by ResteGo.
Firebase Authentication processes account registration, sign-in, email addresses, display names, account identifiers, and authentication records. Cloud Firestore stores account-related data and restroom contributions submitted through ResteGo.
Google’s Privacy Policy is available at:
https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en-US
6.2 Google Maps SDK
Google Maps SDK renders the interactive map displayed within ResteGo. Google may process device, network, map-request, location, and service-usage information in accordance with its applicable policies and service configuration.
Google’s Privacy Policy is available at:
https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en-US
6.3 Google Play Services
Google Play services may provide device-location functionality after you grant the applicable Android permission.
ResteGo receives location information for the features described in this Privacy Policy. Google may independently process information through Google Play services in accordance with its own privacy practices.
Google’s Privacy Policy is available at:
https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en-US
6.4 Mapbox
Mapbox provides address suggestions, geocoding, coordinates, and driving-direction information.
When you type a starting point or destination, ResteGo sends the entered text to Mapbox. Where location permission has been granted, approximate location information may also be transmitted to rank nearby address suggestions.
Mapbox may process request, device, network, location, and technical information in accordance with its privacy policy.
Mapbox’s Privacy Policy is available at:
https://www.mapbox.com/legal/privacy
6.5 Google Maps and Waze Navigation
When you select a navigation option, ResteGo may open Google Maps or Waze and transfer the selected destination to that application.
After the third-party navigation application opens, its operator controls the information processed through that service. ResteGo does not control the navigation application’s collection of location, route, account, device, or usage information.
Google’s Privacy Policy is available at:
https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en-US
Waze’s Privacy Policy is available at:
https://www.waze.com/legal/privacy
6.6 OpenStreetMap
Restroom location information may be sourced from OpenStreetMap contributors.
OpenStreetMap data is made available under the Open Database License and is subject to the applicable attribution requirements. Information about OpenStreetMap copyright and licensing is available at:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright
6.7 Independent Processing
Third-party providers may process information independently for security, fraud prevention, service delivery, legal compliance, infrastructure management, and other purposes described in their own policies.
ResteGo is not responsible for a third party’s independent processing practices, service changes, or privacy-policy revisions.
7.1 Personal information may be disclosed in the following circumstances.
7.2 Service Providers
Information may be transmitted to Google Firebase, Google Maps SDK, Google Play services, Mapbox, Google Maps, and Waze to provide the functions requested by you.
Service providers receive only the information involved in delivering the relevant technical function, subject to their configurations and independent processing practices.
7.3 Other ResteGo Users
Structured restroom contributions may be displayed publicly within ResteGo without your name or email address.
7.4 Legal Compliance and Protection
Information may be disclosed where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:
(a) comply with applicable law, a court order, subpoena, warrant, or other valid legal process;
(b) respond to a lawful request from a government or law-enforcement authority;
(c) investigate fraud, unlawful conduct, security incidents, or misuse;
(d) protect the rights, property, safety, and security of ResteGo, its operator, users, or the public;
(e) enforce the Terms of Service or another agreement; or
(f) establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim.
7.5 We may challenge or narrow a request where legally permitted and reasonably appropriate.
7.6 Business Transfer
Information may be disclosed as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, asset sale, transfer, insolvency proceeding, or succession involving ResteGo.
Any recipient will receive information subject to applicable law and the commitments applicable to the information at the time of transfer.
7.7 With Your Direction or Consent
Information may be disclosed where you direct us to disclose it or provide consent for a specific disclosure.
7.8 Aggregated or De-Identified Information
Information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it cannot reasonably be linked to an identifiable individual may be used and disclosed for lawful purposes, including maintaining restroom information, understanding service coverage, and protecting data integrity.
We will not attempt to re-identify information treated as de-identified, except where necessary to test whether the de-identification process is effective or where otherwise permitted by applicable law.
8.1 ResteGo does not sell personal information for monetary consideration.
8.2 ResteGo does not disclose personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising.
8.3 ResteGo does not operate as a data broker.
8.4 ResteGo does not rent account information, location information, route information, or user contributions to advertisers.
8.5 ResteGo does not use third-party advertising networks or advertising-measurement SDKs.
8.6 Because these activities are not conducted, ResteGo does not provide a separate advertising opt-out within the application.
9.1 ResteGo is a native Android application and does not use browser cookies to operate its application features.
9.2 ResteGo does not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, remarketing pixels, or website-based behavioral-tracking technologies within the native application.
9.3 Third-party services integrated into or opened from ResteGo may use device storage, software identifiers, local technologies, or other mechanisms under their own policies.
9.4 Any future ResteGo website that uses cookies or similar technologies will be addressed through an updated privacy notice or a separate cookie notice where required.
10.1 Personal information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, subject to legal, security, dispute-resolution, and recordkeeping requirements.
10.2 Retention is determined according to the nature of the information, the reason it was collected, the sensitivity of the information, operational requirements, security risks, and applicable legal obligations.
10.3 Account Information
Your email address, display name, and active account information are generally retained while your ResteGo account remains open.
Account information is deleted or de-identified after a valid account-deletion request has been completed, except where limited retention is reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or enforcement.
10.4 User Contributions
Restroom ratings, predefined tags, facility attributes, and open or closed reports may be retained after account deletion to preserve the usefulness and integrity of crowd-sourced restroom information.
Before such contributions are retained independently of the deleted account, your email address and display name are removed from the contribution record, and the contribution is deleted, aggregated, or de-linked from the account so that it cannot reasonably be used by ResteGo to identify you.
A random record identifier may remain solely to maintain database integrity, detect duplicate submissions, or preserve aggregate restroom information, provided that it is not linked to your deleted profile, email address, or display name.
10.5 Location Information
ResteGo does not maintain a background location history.
Location information used to show nearby restrooms or initiate a route request is processed for the requested feature and is not retained by ResteGo as a permanent history of your movements.
Third-party location and mapping providers may retain information under their own policies.
10.6 Route Information
Address suggestions, route results, and driving directions returned by Mapbox are not permanently stored by ResteGo as a journey history.
Limited technical or security records associated with service requests may be retained by the relevant infrastructure provider under its own policy.
10.7 Communications
Emails and privacy-related communications may be retained for as long as necessary to respond, document the request, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.
10.8 Legal and Security Retention
Information may be retained for a longer period where reasonably necessary to:
(a) comply with applicable law;
(b) respond to a legal claim or valid government request;
(c) investigate fraud or security incidents;
(d) enforce the Terms of Service;
(e) prevent repeated abuse; or
(f) preserve evidence relating to a dispute.
11.1 You may request deletion of your ResteGo account through:
(a) the account-deletion function available within the application;
(b) the account-deletion webpage at https://restego.app/delete-account; or
(c) an email sent to restegoapp@gmail.com.
11.2 A deletion request may require reasonable verification to confirm that you control the relevant account.
11.3 Deleting your account removes the profile information associated with the account, including the email address and display name, subject to the limited exceptions described in this Privacy Policy.
11.4 Restroom contributions may remain available only after they have been deleted, aggregated, anonymized, or de-linked from the deleted profile in the manner described in clause 10.4.
11.5 ResteGo does not currently operate a separate backup system for account information or user contributions. If a service provider independently maintains information in backup, security, or disaster-recovery systems, that information is subject to the provider’s applicable retention practices. Deleted account information will not be intentionally restored by ResteGo for ordinary operational use.
11.6 Deletion does not require us to remove information where retention is legally required or reasonably necessary to protect security, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, or establish, exercise, or defend legal rights.
11.7 Deleting ResteGo from your device does not automatically delete your account. The in-app deletion function, account-deletion webpage, or contact method identified above must be used.
12.1 Location Permission
You may grant, deny, or withdraw location permission through your Android device settings.
Withdrawing permission prevents ResteGo from accessing your device location but may affect nearby-restroom and route-starting features.
12.2 Account Information
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of account information by using available account controls or contacting us.
12.3 User Contributions
You may manage contributions through any controls provided within ResteGo. Requests concerning contributions associated with your account may also be submitted by email.
Previously published contributions may remain in aggregated or de-identified form after account deletion.
12.4 Third-Party Accounts
Google account permissions and privacy settings may be managed through the controls made available by Google.
Deleting a ResteGo account does not delete your Google account, Google Maps account, Waze account, or information independently held by another provider.
12.5 Service Communications
ResteGo may send communications necessary for account administration, security, privacy requests, policy changes, or service operations.
ResteGo does not currently send advertising or email-marketing communications.
13.1 Depending on your state of residence and the applicability of state privacy law to ResteGo, you may have the right to:
(a) confirm whether we process your personal information;
(b) access personal information associated with you;
(c) correct inaccuracies in personal information;
(d) request deletion of personal information;
(e) obtain a portable copy of certain personal information;
(f) obtain information about categories of information collected, used, or disclosed;
(g) opt out of the sale of personal information;
(h) opt out of targeted advertising;
(i) opt out of certain profiling producing legal or similarly significant effects;
(j) limit certain uses of sensitive information, where applicable;
(k) appeal a refusal to act on a privacy request; and
(l) receive equal service without unlawful discrimination for exercising a privacy right.
13.2 ResteGo does not sell personal information, conduct targeted advertising, or use personal information for profiling producing legal or similarly significant effects.
13.3 A request may be submitted to restegoapp@gmail.com.
13.4 Your request should identify:
(a) the email address associated with your ResteGo account;
(b) the right you seek to exercise; and
(c) sufficient information to allow us to locate the relevant account or records.
13.5 We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before processing a request. Verification information will be used only to assess and respond to the request.
13.6 Where permitted by applicable law, an authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf. We may require evidence of the agent’s authority and direct verification from you.
13.7 We will respond within the period required by applicable law. Where an extension is legally permitted, you will be notified of the extension and the reason for it.
13.8 A request may be denied or limited where an exception applies, including where information cannot reasonably be linked to the requester, disclosure would adversely affect another person’s rights, retention is legally required, or the request is manifestly unfounded, excessive, repetitive, fraudulent, or unverifiable.
13.9 Instructions for appealing an eligible denied request will be included in the response where an appeal right applies.
14.1 ResteGo is not directed to children under 13 years of age.
14.2 We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13.
14.3 A child under 13 must not create an account, submit restroom contributions, or provide personal information through ResteGo.
14.4 If we learn that personal information has been collected from a child under 13 without legally valid authorization, reasonable steps will be taken to delete the information and close the account.
14.5 A parent or legal guardian who believes that a child under 13 has provided personal information may contact restegoapp@gmail.com.
15.1 ResteGo uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information processed.
15.2 Safeguards include encrypted data transmission through HTTPS or TLS and database-access controls designed to restrict users from modifying contributions associated with other accounts.
15.3 Authentication and database services are provided through Google Firebase infrastructure.
15.4 No application, database, network, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
15.5 You are responsible for protecting your device, email account, Google account, password, and other authentication credentials.
15.6 You should notify us promptly if you believe your ResteGo account has been compromised or accessed without authorization.
15.7 Where a security incident affects personal information and notification is required by applicable law, notices will be provided in the manner and within the period required by law.
16.1 ResteGo is operated from the United States.
16.2 Personal information may be processed or stored in the United States and in other locations in which Google, Mapbox, or another service provider operates infrastructure.
16.3 Privacy and data-protection laws in those locations may differ from the laws applicable in your state of residence.
16.4 ResteGo is currently intended for users in the United States and is not offered as a service specifically directed to residents of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction outside the United States.
17.1 ResteGo may display maps, restroom locations, or navigation options associated with third-party businesses, public facilities, transport locations, or other premises.
17.2 Inclusion of a restroom or premises does not mean that its owner or operator is affiliated with ResteGo.
17.3 ResteGo does not control privacy practices at physical premises or information collected independently by a business, property owner, navigation provider, or other third party.
17.4 Any information provided directly to a third party is governed by that third party’s privacy practices.
18.1 We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in ResteGo, technical providers, legal requirements, security practices, or information-processing activities.
18.2 The revised policy will identify a new “Last Updated” date.
18.3 Where a change materially affects how personal information is collected, used, or disclosed, reasonable notice may be provided through ResteGo, by email, or through another appropriate method before the change becomes effective.
18.4 Continued use of ResteGo after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective constitutes acknowledgment of the updated policy.
18.5 Consent will be requested where required by applicable law for a new processing activity.
